One NIC using bridge and tap devices

Hi,

I would like to know wether it is possiple to use tap/tun devices with ASG. 

My Appliance has just one LAN-interface, but I could bridge that interface to two tap devicecs. So I could use these logical tabs (tab0 and tab1) over the bridge br0 as it would be physically interfaces. 

The reason is: Actually I have two NICs conectet to the same router. The router is two in one (switch and Gateway). If I could use just one NIC I would safe one RJ45 connector to for using it another way and a bit more energy, cos I have just one NIC to supply with energy ;-)

    VLANs might make more sense, but you'd need a VLAN-capable switch.

    I've got a Fritz!Box Fon 7270 with the posiibility to use VLAN (via ssh).
    My actually configuration looks like:


    Now I want to use just one NIC, can anybody describe the configuration for the new VLAN. My gaim looks like:


    I can use the FBF just as a modem, so the ASG is responible for dial-in via PPPOE or the FBF can manage the dial-in as a router as before.

    I believe you'd want to create a couple VLANs on the switch, and setup the firewall NIC as the VLAN trunk.
    Setup the networks on the firewall, using virtual interfaces.

    There may be some VLAN docs on the Astaro knowledgebase, however I don't see them.

    Looks like a nice configuration. I have the ASG behind the FBF, and all the devices behind the ASG. What is your thought by putting the ASG 'next' to the FBF ? Does the FBF still runs DHCP with default GTW the ASG?

    A lot of questions, would be nice to get more information about this setup.
