Free space is exhausted, cannot delete logs

Hi.

I am using v7.104
My logdisk is full, about 2 month after installation.

I had set the logfiles to delete oldest ones @ 90% used space.
But Astaro did not delete them, and got filled up. Now its 0% free space.

And I get TONS of emails every day about the disk beeing at 100% fillup rate.
I tryed to turn off the email notifications for the logging feature, but Astaro hangs every time.
(cannot turn off those notifs)

I tryed to set a root pwd to log into the shell and delete the logs.
But nomatter what password I set, root will not accept it.

What can I do? Is this a known issue?

    Hi,
    from past experience, that means one file is growing very large and occupying  most of the disk.
    The password problem is usually because the cpu is at 100%.

    Basically you have a run away task.

    I found the only way to overcome the issue was re-boot then look at which file is causing the problem, that will help identify which process is out of control.

    Astaro crashed on me last night, so I guess I got the reboot mentioned above.
    (a hard reset)
    I managed to turn off "log filling up notifs" after the reset, but I still get the damn emails.
    Also, now most of the logs are gone. But the Resource usage on Dashboard say its full.

    Very odd behaivour..

    Hi Darkwader,
    as I advised, one file will be very large, so large that is fills the available partition.

    You need to identify which one it is and then have a look for strange things in your configuration that affect that log file.

    Post the log file sizes here, I am sure there are knowledgeable people around only willing to help. But they do need information, data etc.

    I can only second that. Most likely this is a runaway process, leading to an insane amount of log data in one file. Because the automatic file deletion always deletes oldest-first and never deletes log data of the current day, it is not able to help automatically in that case.
    The only viable solution is to check your  logfiles, find the largest one, and check it's contents to see which process is causing this.
