Not getting Notifications

Hello all.  I have a client that has a ASG120.  They are on a ATT DSL dynamic connection.  I have never gotten a notification from this firewall. I really am not sure where to look to diagnose it.  Can someone point me in the right direction so I can get this part working?

Astaro Security Linux is equipped with an extensive built-in monitoring sub-system. This system can alert you for events such as if an Up2date is available, a resource is consuming what is believed to be too much CPU or RAM, or if your license key will need to be renewed soon. There are many different events that are designed to be sent over e-mail to the system administrator to keep them as informed as possible as to how their Firewall is operating. To enable these notifications, go to System-->Settings in WebAdmin and enter the e-mail address that should receive these alerts under the Administrator Contact section.

The firewall needs to resolve names, e.g. for sending notifications to the administrator. Therefore a nameserver has to be specified in the forwarders section of the DNS Proxy.

In case no forwarder is specified, the firewall tries to reach the root name servers in order to resolve names.

Ok I had the box checked to use the DNS from the ISP.  I unchecked and tried making static DNS IP's and there is still an issue.

I am thinking this is a bigger issue.  I have been looking on the boards and ran accross https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/53/t/32127 and https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/56/t/47963.

Any ideas?  Could this be the ISP blocking port 25 or requiring a password for outbound email?

Use a Smarthost: A smarthost is a type of mail relay server which allows an SMTP server to route mail to an upstream mail server rather than directly to the recipient’s server. Often this smarthost requires authentication from the sender to verify that the sender has privileges to have mail forwarded through the smarthost.

If you want to use a smarthost to send mail, select the Use a Smarthost check box and enter the hostname or IP address of the smarthost. In that case, the proxy will never deliver mail itself, but rather send anything to the smarthost. If the smarthost requires authentication, select the This Smarthost Requires Authentication check box and enter a username and password in the respective fields. Both PLAIN and LOGIN authentication types are supported.

Configuring a smarthost (the ISP's SMTP Server) would likely fix this.

Can you try Smart Host?

Ok, I found the smart host on the Email Security | SMTP | Advanced tab.  Is this the one you are referring to?  The tab is greyed out because I do not have the SMTP Proxy on.  Does this need to be on for the Smart Host to work?  If so, I do not have a server running SMTP so how would you configure the first tab?

I called ATT (Used to be Southwester Bell) and found that they were blocking port 25.  They removed the block and email is flowing fine now.  Thank you all for your help.
