syslog daemon wont start

Since yesterday the syslog daemon wont start, i dont know why and i cant check the logs (because of the stoped syslog daeom).

when i try to start syslogd over /etc/init.d i got the following error message:

:: Starting Loggingio.c: bind_unix_socket(): bind failed /var/chroot-pop3/dev/log (Address already in use)
Error initializing configuration, exiting.
startproc:  exit status of parent of /sbin/syslog-ng: 1

does anyone knows a solution for this?

    I found what is causing the problem. The /dev/hda5 device gets mounted ro because of some corrupted files. Now I need to know how to clean up the drive partition. I am anable to mount single user without mounting the /dev/hda5 device so that I can run e2fsck. Can anyone help? I would hate to have to do a complete reinstall. Hope someone can help

    jmartos, is your system an Appliance or your own computer with Astaro loaded?

    Typically, when things get that corrupted, it generally means that the disk is going bad...
