Reset Password on Webadmin from console

Hi All:

I need to reset the webadmin password, and I'd like to do it from the command line.  I'm running 7.002 and went to /etc/wfe/conf/settings (that might not be the complete path) and there is no settings file or even the conf directory.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be much appreciated.  I'd really prefer not to restore fro backup. (But I will if needed)

    I'm sorry to bring up this thread, but I did the commands to reset the password and it didn't ask me to change the password, it just logged me off and changed the login itself. Now it won't let me login via console. I've tried root as the username and I've tried admin as the username, no go. Any ideas?

    If you have an unencrypted configuration backup, put it on a USB memory stick and reboot the Astaro with the memory stick inserted.  The Astaro will restore that configuration, and you will be able to login again.  That also may restore the WebAdmin password you remember.

    If you still can't login to WebAdmin, you can try the suggestion made by Frank Lichtenfeld, one of the Astaro developers:
    You can also try to set the admin password with cc:
    cc admin_pw_setup password
    (This only works if the password is currently unset)

    Hi,
    I was able to restore my admin password using the usb stick, and a recent backup.
    Thanks! (The method described my Sophos/Astaro where you log in on the console and reset the password failed miserably for me.) Everything worked except it actually prompting me for a new password in the web admin interface.
    So, this saved me from having to reinstall from scratch.

    Hi Bob,

    I did try the cc admin_pw_setup password.

    It returned, admin_pw_setup returned 1, but i am not sure which password should i use now to log into the webadmin. Is there perhaps a default password that the command you mentioned resets to?

    Probably not working cause there was a password specified before.

    Even tried logging into webadmin with root details.

    Hi, iirc if the reset works, when you connect to webadmin you should see a page to set a new password.

    Astaro version?
