User Reports

I was under the impression Astaro Security Gateway allowed you to view user access logs on the Web Proxy. Is this not the case? I have the latest Astaro 7.0 installed and updated. Is there anyway I can generate a browsing report for a specific user? I don't even care if I can't specify a date I'll just use notepad and search.

I believe I have answered my own question by digging through a lot of forum posts. It appears a lot of people are complaining about the lack of any kind of functional report generation when it comes to users and their browsing habits.

I've looked at a lot of solutions and it seems most of them are missing this key feature.

I don't know if it's still the case, but in the past you could download the web proxy logs (squid logs) and parse them with various log analyzers.

That sounds like a great idea. Wonder if I can get into those logs on one of Asatro's official devices.

All logs are in /var/log
You can access them from the console or SSH, or download them with SCP/SFTP.
You can also usually access them through the web admin, and you can configure a remote syslog server, and, IIRC, in some versions, have logs automatically sent to a windows or ftp server.

This sounds interesting, I have Astaro Report Manager and its useless for trying to track Users web access. Does anyone have any suggestions for utilizing the squid logs for doing this?

I can think of a pretty easy way to do this using PHP/MySQL. I bet there are a bunch of scripts out there already for parsing Squid logs.
