Emule runs and Firewall shows 100% CPU Usage

my report shows me 100% CPU Usage..I use a barebone Neo with VIA Eden 1000MHz and 512MB RAM with a 7.001 Home-Licence. When i run my emule on my PC then i get 100% CPU usage. Intrusion Protection is inactive. Anti-Virus is inactive. Anti-Spam is inactive. Anti-Spyware is inactive. Only 2 NAt-Rules are active.

On Version 6.303 i got no porblem on the same maschine.

Check the mail queue, make sure you don't have a bunch of emails stuck.

Is network accounting on?

Try running TOP from a shell/console to see what is using the CPU.

hello

when i use top on shell...the usage of cpu is 85%..confd.plx and pfilter-reporte use much cpu...

To fix this on my 7.005 box I have disabled IM/P2P Security. Now no more CPU Utilization at 100%. Also reported it to Astaro Support....still waiting on response.

Which rules were the IM/P2P rules triggering on? You can see this in the IPS logs...

I have the same problem here. Running ASL 7.005. Now I disabled the IM Security and it seems to be running okay. But also my ASL hangs when run about a day long and all that helps is a hard reboot of the machine...

Hello,

I have the same problem when skype is enabled on many machines in the network at the same time.

Last week Skype did have many problems. All Skypes did not get a connection to the Skype network and did try to connect the whole time. The Astaro logs did show UDP-Floods with 100 MBits on the internal Interface. We did ahve connection errors and timeouts. The ASG 7.007 (on a Intel 3.0 GHz / 1 GB RAM) did run to 100% CPU usage.

Astaro does not seem to be a very good firewall product! Go for the WatchGuard firewalls! They are awesome and work flawlessly!

astaro is fine..the latest version needs work..v4 was the best i've seen..v5 was ok and v6 i stayed away from. v7 has a ton of potential. Your statement leads one to believe you either haven't tried astaro that much or you are just trolling for watchguard.

I tried the Astaro and I guess you know that. But if you compare those two products, the ASG looks like a toy. It does not really work, hangs on a dozen occasions! The WG is also superior in terms of real proxies! The ASG comes with a squid proxy for web, but the actual firewall is a poor packetfilter. In a WG you have proxy filters, which keep track of RFC conform protocols etc. Try running your ssh session through port 80 on a WG HTTP proxy and you'll see [;)]

Nevermind. I do not like it, but that doesn't mean that you need to, too. I am not a troll. I really wanted the ASG to work for me...
