All users that connect through PPTP are no longer able to synchronize with the exchange server. They are getting error 0x8004011D. When they connect through the LAN, everything works fine.
EDIT:
Adding the name / internal IP of the exchange server to the hosts file resolves the problem, so it seems this is a DNS problem.
Our internal network happens (I inhereted this situation) to have the same domain name (eg domain.com) as our public domain name, so instead of looking internally for our mail server, I guess he must be trying to resolve that name externally. How do I let the DNS server know that it needs to resolve some addresses locally and others externally?
I know I really should change my internal domain name to domain.local or so. I have planned that in a couple of weeks, but in the mean time I'd like to resolve this.
My DNS setup:
clients -> internal (W2K) DNS -> external DNS
ASL -> internal DNS
