DNS Proxy Problem with Ping and .local Zone

Hallo NG,

i have got a little problem with my astaro 6.1 box and my w2k3 domain. the 2k3 DNS zone is dehatads.local. this dns server is the only forwarder of the astaro box. so when i try to use the ping test at the web interface to ping an internal host with the FQDN (host.dehatads.local), i always get the following: The hostname either does not exist or the DNS proxy is not configured correctly

the confusing thing is that on the console it works fine and also at the network definitions the network DNS Hostname does resolv the host. so it seems it is only the ping command that has a problem with the .local zone, because pingin microsoft.com works fine.

any ideas?

    .local zone:

    There is a know rfc draft which claims .local domain for multicast dns.

    I run into this Problem while setting up a SUSE 10.0, ping/ssh etc was not working when using domain names such as xxx.yyy.local.

    dig/nslookup works fine.

    The mdns feature is imlemented from SUSE and even in MACOS X.
    If you have a linux system try to set mdns off in the hosts file.

    Just for Info, might help.
