Strange SNMP Problem with V6

Hi All,

i noticed a difference in the SNMP "behaviour" between ASL v5 and v6.

I use the Tool "Paessler Traffic Grapher" (PRTG) to monitor the Bandwidth of  my external Interface. This worked without Problems in v5 (with an  update rate of 5 Secs.). 
In v6 i only get a Traffic Spike once a Minute. Everything else is a "Flat line". If i choose a really slow update rate (like 5 Minutes) the Graph seems to be correct. 

Any Ideas???

    You are correct, the values of the SNMPd server are only updated once a minute. During normal firewall operation (including webadmin reporting) this is no problem, in your case it is.
    I don't think that we will change this behaviour soon because there is no need for us to do so. You might want to check the net-snmp docs/mailing lists for information on how to change this behaviour, maybe there is a simple configuration option?

    Hi Andreas,

    it was nice for me as a Home user to have a quick look at what was going on NOW. At Work i already run in a 30 Seconds scan interval, so 60 Secs. isn´t that bad.

    Much more interesting would be a up to the Minute look at WHO is using the Bandwidth (including Proxy-Users) [:)]

    Probably a realtime network analyzer would be better for this. We had some threads about running ntop and similar tools on the ASL.
