maybe it is possible, to add a email-notification, just in case a dhcp-assigned external IP changes ...

That would indeed be handy, to receive an administrative email each time the DHCP supplied address on the WAN interface changed.

should at least be logged, usually means a network has failed somewhere.

not if your isp dynamicaly changes your ip every night at midnight like mine does..[:)]
i ahve gone form 66.x to 70.x to 64.
