ez-ipupdate reports error and won't update dyndns

Have a look in the AUTO-OUPUT Chain if packet filters to dyndns.org, port 80 are set. Any drops in the paacketfilter.log?

I checked the cache file and it did not exist anyway. Should i create it? I guess not as I assume it's autocreated.

My packet filter was dropping any packet issued from the external interface, including those to dyndns. I've resolved that issue but still have a problem.

Now I still get the 'malformed cache file' and I'm working on the assumption that this is a spurious message.

However, I now get a 'invalid hostname: peterpan.com'. Note my real domainname has been changed to protect my poor firewall. Generally, if I ping peterpan.com then I would expect to be directed to my firewall, I have a few cnames defined as well such as www. etc.

DynDns used to work when I used ddupdate (when I had a linksys firewall). It is only since using astaro that I haven't been able to get this to work.

So, the hostname in the dyndns config is set to peterpan.com and I have supplied my dyndns username and password, as I would if I logged into their website.

Any ideas?

Someone mentioned that this is an erroneous error and that it will still work however, this causes several concerns:
1. The log file grows and grows and grows &c
2. E-mail after e-mail stacks up (...dyndns not running, restarting...)
3.  It attempts (?) the service every few seconds - is it hitting DynDNS.org? This could end up being probematic.

If anyone has any additional insight it would be appreciated.
