Question about /etc/no-selfmonitor

Hi,

yesterday I found that my dyndns-account wasn't updated.
So I looked at the directory /etc/no-selfmonitor and found a file
something like dyndns (I don't remember the exact name- sorry).
How does this file get generated? (that was ASL 5.100)
I updated to ASL 5.103. Now I find a file "syslogger" in this directory. Does that mean, the syslogd ins'nt monitored anymore?

    HI Martin,

    as you presume, flag files in /etc/no-selfmonitor serve the purpose to temporarily suspend regular checks of SelfMonitor. The files are automatically managed by the start-stop machinery.

    Syslogger is a companion process of squid, which is no longer used. So it doesn't matter whether there is such a no-selfmonitor file or not. There is no connection to the -very important- syslog daemon.

    Talking about "dyndns", this no-selfmonitor file's existence should form an XOR to the running ez-update process.  If you have a valid active configuration of dyndns, there should be a running daemon in connection with a non-existent no-selfmonitor file.
