Query speed/BW limit for the DNS proxy?

2) whouldn't the proxy be more smart? i.e: not hammering external servers, because this hammering is a recursive query to the same domain that -i dunno for what reason- always fails and it keeps asking for it, shouldn't this hammering stop at the ASL?

You would think the dns proxy would do that..but it appears the dns proxy in ASL is simply a forwarder and not a cache..with that in mind no ASL would not stop hammering..are you running windows dns servers?

i've already put it in low priority, it doesn't stops the merciless hammering.

do you ahve an AD tree setup?  If so then that may be the root cause..try googling windows dns hammering i found some links on the subject that may calm windows hammering of asl and then you isp dns server.
