ISP says 500 mb Astaro says 292 mb

either my ISP is cheating me out of bandwidth or the Astaro accounting is wrong can anyone shed some light

    today Astaro says that yesterday I used 219 MB 
    but the ISP says I used 370 am I the only one this happens to?

    Weren't we discussing this in another thread?

    Do you have an accounting for your  EXT interface?

    Yes we were, sorry about that I was asleep when I posted. Yes I do have an accounting for my EXT interface. I have 2 net cards in the Astaro box one is conected to a hub with 7 computers on it and the other is conected to the internet. The 7 computers each have an IP address which are individualy quiried (all together the 7 computers should represent the total going through the lan card) in addition  the net card or EXT card is also quiried.  so I have two questions ? 
    1. Why is the total of the 7 computers not equal to the EXT card? 
    2. Why is it that the EXT card can say 292 MB when my ISP says I used 500 MB?

    Here is the count for yesterday there is a dif of about 63 MB 
    between the EXT card and the other 7

    today My ISP says I used 404 MB but the Astaro says that the card conected to the NET only counted 185 ? what am I doing wrong ?

    You just have 1 IP from your ISP, right?

    Maybe run a sniffer and try to see what all the traffic is, but I'd also suggest talking to your ISP and to Astaro support.

    Yes I am on a 24 hours a day, cable modem connection to to just the one ISP. By the way what is or what sort of sniffer would you be thinking of ?

    Today my Astaro says I have passed 321 Mb through the EXT net card but my ISP says my bandwidth for the same 24 hour period was 420 Mb? Am I the only person this happens to?

    Any sniffer should work. You can even run some on ASL itself. 

    I believe tcpdump is included in ASL 5, so you could dump to a file and then look at it with Ethereal or whatever.

    Also, I've posted instructions for getting IPTraf working in ASL on these forums... it shows _current_ bandwidth usage by interface, ip, port, etc.

    None of these are going to tell you the total bandwidth/day, but they might help you track down if there is a problem (worm, etc.)

    I'd still suggest contacting your ISP and Astaro, too.
