traffic accounting, bad results?

hi,
i really need this traffic accounting feature of astaro (v5.012), but it seems it is not working that well.  My ISP tells me i have used (over a certain period of time) 12.59 GB of datatraffic.  My astaro (with 3 nics) tells me I have used more than 21 Gb over the same period of time.  I know there has been communication between the different networks attached to my astaro (dmz and lan), i do not know how much exactly... but I thought i had read that traffic is not included in the traffic accounting reports...? 
This feature is quite important to me, can anyone tell me if i'm doing something wrong?

    Hi,
    I have 3 interfaces
    - Internet
    - DMZ
    - LAN

    I am running accounting on both DMZ-interface and LAN-interface (because i need to know how much traffic is generated on both networks)

    If you include your DMZ it will show up in the accounting report. If you want to check if your ISP accounts correctly, you need to configure the accounting on your external interface only.

    Hi,
    yes, i want both reports (lan + dmz) and -if astaro does not count internal traffic between lan and dmz, like it says it does- adding up those 2 should be more or less the same as accounting on the external interface or what the ISP is counting... not?

    I must say i still do not understand how you want to do accounting. Normally, your network infrastructure looks like this:

    First of all, you will only get one accounting report, no matter how many networks you include.

    I do not know where you read this, I can't find it - neither in the online help nor in the manual. 
    If you include "internal", every packet with source or destination "internal" will be included into the report. If you add "DMZ" to it, packets with source or desination "DMZ" will be included in the accounting report (in addition to those with source or destination "internal"). This will most likely result in a sum greater than the sum your provider counts, since you account traffic running into your DMZ in additition to the traffic going to the internet.

    I hope that clarifies things a bit...

    same for me now :-)

    The infrastructure is like in your drawing.  I have included the 2 networks for accounting, in the notes of the accounting-report there is a sentence 'Traffic between all queried networks is IGNORED !' 
    This is an extract from the report of last month (looking more in detail, I notice that the sum of the traffic on the different protocols is very close to the figure i get from the isp, the sum in the astaro report is much too high)
