SNMPD died

Last week, SNMPD died on two ASL v5.011 boxes at around the same time, although both boxes are independent from each other.

Using Webadmin, I disabled and then re-enabled SNMP upon which the SNMPD responded again to external queries, e.g. SNMP get requests, and the internals graphs were updated again, too.

  • With version 5.011 and higher, the SNMPd is checked by the selfmonitoring and should be automatically restarted. And to the cause of the "snmpd disease" - do you have some hints on what may have caused the snmpd to die?
