There is still a significant problem with SIP, in that the various VOIP vendors have created their own dialectical implementations, which complicates the task of creating a universal proxy.
i´m using a sipgate account behind asl with fixed ports. so i don´t need upnp. i forward incoming udp ports 5060, 8000-8012 to the sip phone and allow outgoing only udp ports: the same as incoming + 49820 - that´s it. sipgate rocks! it´s free (there´s no monthly basic fee) you get a fixed number and it´s a must have for us freaks ;-)
yes, i think so. but there should be no problem, because its prepaid, so that your personal information doesn´t matter ;-). the other point : it absolutly doesn't make any difference where you connect the phone (china - germany - afrikca) you talk for the same price everywhere! there´s also nikotel for the us. maybe that´s something you´re looking for.
