V4's Proxy Cache Graphs gone in V5?

ASL V4's Proxy Cache graphs (menu Reporting - HTTP Proxy Cache) are extremely useful to check on the effectiveness of Squid in an environment with high latency where we use ASL to accelerate Web access over permanent IP satellite links (VSAT).

Unfortunately, in V5 I could not yet locate those graphs (HTTP Cache Objects, HTTP Object Hits, HTTP Memory Hits). Are they somewhere where I did not find them yet, or will they become available again in V5 sometime?

    You are right, they are not included any more.
    Before the development for Version 5 we made a survey and asked some of our customers and partners about the key figures they wanted to see in the WebAdmin. The proxy cache pictures had a very low ranking, so they were not included in our project plan for Version 5.
    If more people request the proxy cache figures, it can be scheduled for the net version or even one of the next up2dates. In our opinion, there are more important tasks, but we have always an open ear for our customer's needs :-)

    Thanks for your clarification. That's bad news, a pitty that they have not been taken on. I will now try to extract the relevant Squid counters via SNMP and OIDs myself, and feed them into RRDTool external to ASL.

    This effort may illustrate that I really need those graphs. Apart from verifying that Squid is working effectively, these graphs come in very handy to illustrate to my management the effectiveness of a file cache. Bandwidth savings of 20 to 30% on a satellite link quickly pay for the ASL license, its hardware plattform, and associated management "overhead"...

    I'm using a volume based flatrate (German SDSL 2 GB) and it would be nice to check the efficiency of the proxy in saving traffic.

    Are there any other ways to monitor the traffic of a period (e.g. last month, this month) like ipacsum ?

    There is a network accounting integrated into the ASL. WebAdmin:
    Network->Accounting (enable accounting daemon)
    Reporting->Accouting (show accounting reports)
