SMTP failure with DoS and virus scanning in 5.003

With DoS and virus scanning switched on, some incoming emails are being rejected. I can't see a pattern: the test emails are very tiny, plain text and with no attachments. But others from different servers come through. The error is this:

2004:04:29-11:36:00 (none) exim[3109]: 2004-04-29 11:36:00 1BJ0T1-0000o9-2m malware acl condition: weed: scanning failed: ERROR ( )
2004:04:29-11:36:00 (none) exim[3109]: 2004-04-29 11:36:00 1BJ0T1-0000o9-2m malware acl condition: weed: scanning failed: ERROR ( )
2004:04:29-11:36:00 (none) exim[3109]: 2004-04-29 11:36:00 1BJ0T1-0000o9-2m H=(neuro.net.au) [202.4.232.77] F= temporarily rejected after DATA
2004:04:29-11:36:00 (none) exim[3109]: [1\15] 2004-04-29 11:36:00 1BJ0T1-0000o9-2m H=(neuro.net.au) [202.4.232.77] F= temporarily rejected after DATA

The email definitely don't have viruses. This only started happening with 5.002/5.003.

  • I'm also seeing that on *every* email received.
Disabling only virus scan on smtp proxy , make it work again... without
    virus checking  [:(]

even rebooting doesn't fix the problem.
with 5.001 was all ok, now with 5.003 we have that issue.
