smtp proxy -> user auth on internal mail sver ?

hi @ all

i ve got some trouble with the smtp proxy.. it works so far, that no relaying is allowed and mail for the given domains is accepted... thats ok..

but now the user from outside like to send mail with netscape or outlook.
the tls and user auth is enabled .. also ok... but now.. 

iam not able to use mail internal mail sever for the auth .. i MUST create a firewall user i.e. mail and give it to my users , so that they are able to send mail..

how can i setup the smtp proxy that my internal mailserver does the auth ?
also in tze drop down list where i can choose auth method i olny can take local users... how do i get my mailserver in there ?

    you have the option to configure your internal mail server as allowed host to relay over Astaro and in the mail server configuration you configure ASL as upstream smtp gateway. No user auth is needed for allowed hosts!

    hi,
    thats what ive done ... but the firewall ask the passwod for those user again and again.. iam using nat , is that my problem ? or is there a special setup ?

    i also get that message from exim:
    server_plain authenticator failed for (mydomain)  

    behind the firewall is a debian box with qmail... any hint ?

    How would this enable external client SMTP authentication against the internal mailserver?? - I have the same problem
    This method will only allow your internal mailserver to relay mail to the SMTP proxy (and the other way around), it will however not allow your clients to deliver mail to the SMTP proxy, unless their IP address is in ALLOWED NETWORKS or they are using some local username/password defined on the astaro firewall

    Does anyone know how to make client SMTP authentication work, against the internal mailserver ?? (one that does not support LDAP)
