unable to connect to internet

dns defined as:interfaces to listen on internal
allowed networks : any
forwarding name servers none
http proxy defined
standard mode
access log only
anonimity none
port 8080
allowed networks any
target services any
no surf protection rules
no packet filter rules
no definations for any network or interface.
i tried giving packet filter rules but in vain
please advise i am unable to connect to internet, and i am connecting to internet through other system connected to external interface of asl with cross cable and its pinging with no loss
