why ASL 4.018 use old squid version?

I have ASL V4.018 and I see Squid/2.4.STABLE6+filter0.6 version number at footer of my http error page.

Generated Thu, 29 Jan 2004 11:03:10 GMT by xxxx.pl (Squid/2.4.STABLE6+filter0.6)

Why is used so old version?

Maybe it's an old one, but a patched one. By patching a programm, the version does not increase. So it's secure an working. Why do you need the newest one?

Maybe up2date could make this update?

When my old 2.4 squid makes problems with some sites I have to disable proxy http and then it is sometimes more dangerous than property less certain new version.

Version 2.5 have STABLE releases and Patches too.

If I'm wrong, please correct me.

maybe '+filter0.6' doesn't apply to the newer version. And anyway you'd have to hack the firewall if you want to use any other features beside those Astaro offers.
