SMTP proxy SPAM filtering settngs

Hi everyone..

I'm not sure whether I have my SPAM detection settings set properly and need a bit of clarification, if anyone would be so kind.

THreshold one is set to:  level 5 and will quarantine
THreshold two is set to: level 2 and will pass

Does this look right?  Messages that are clearly SPAM are flagged as spam and passed through, but SOME messages which are legit are also flagged as SPAM.  

What are the "best" settings to ensure most effective and least annoying to the user?  I'm sure this needs tweaking along with using the white list feature, but just need to have a better understanding of SPAM detection.

    Hi Brian,

    ah no you Threshold two is incorrect.

    Setup Threshold one to 5 Quarantine
    Threshold two for example to 10 Blackhole.

    Any mail under a Spamscore of 5 will pass the filter, from score 5 to 9.9 it will be quarantiend and with score 10 or more it will be thrown away (blackhole)

    Whats the best setting ?
    In my opinion everyone has to figure this out for himself.

    I've tried the settings and will see how that works.

    I was suspicious that these settings were not proper but wanted to be sure.

    Blackhole isn't a good idea, better reject those e-mails - this causes an smtp error and the sender, in case he wanted to send you a real mail, has the chance to reformat or fax or whatever his e-mail again.

    ok, cyclops is right.
    For us the Filter with blackhole works well.
    And it was just an example ...
