Hi all, it seems to me that ASL SMTP proxy does not send notification to the recipient on virus detection or file blacklisted, not like the pop3 proxy does. [:S] Is that true?
that is correct. Imagine one of those worm attacks. Would you like to receive thousands of notifications? Astaro's SMTP proxy would somehow act like a spammer sending notifications to the sender, the postmaster and maybe an additional one to the potential receiver of an infected e-mail - nice scenario ;-)
You should set 'reject' as action for detected virus e-mail. This has the advantage that the sender receives a notification from his MTA and your queue must not be maintained.
We got your point... the questions is if the feature couldn't be added to the possible options... and a customized message...
This allow the administrator to choose how to handle viruses...
Sometimes is VERY reassuring to get an email with
a VIRUS FOUND notification... so that you know
a virus was caught...
with the options available 1) the user will never know
a virus was blocked ...2) The reply message to the
sender cannot be customized because the email is
rejected before it's relayed...
I was actually thinking about some kind of Professional
answer...
even a added to the header would
