Pop-up blocking with astaro

Is it possible to block unwanted internet (http) pop-ups at the gateway-level with astaro? If not is there other software that does this on the astaro box? Is their also software that scans at the firewall for virusses in java/activex/etc components.

    Hi Muffin,

    there is no pop-up software available on gateway level.
    As far as i know, there is no software which is doing it ON the Astaro box.
    Maybe think on some software like WebWasher etc.

    There is also no virus scanning in the HTTP right now (but maybe in the future ?!?)
    What you can do is to block ALL Java/ActiveX stuff and in the HTTP Proxy settings.

    an easier way is to use a browser(like mozilla and others) that block popups themselves.  Since most popups are javascript you could have ASL block javascript but that would break much more than fix stuff...best of all you alternative popup blocking browsers for the most part are....free..[:)]

    well telling you the best one is going to start a firestorm..here is what i use:

    netscape 7.1(one user likes the way it looks over mozilla) and mozilla 1.5.

    Mozilla firebird is a great browser with built-in popup blocking (www.mozilla.org)

    However, if you still prefer IE, and many do, you may wish to grab the google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com) that is spyware free, very small to install, and just pick install without advanced features to disable any tracking of searches. The popup blocker that comes with the new 2.0 toolbar is very slick, and works great wihtout installing all over your computer like some of those freeware popup blockers do. Hope that helps.

    I would vouch for Mozilla as well.  I still keep IE around for certain pages, but for the most part now, Mozilla does the trick.  The touches like popup blocking and tabs are quite nice.
