How to block streaming audio?

If it comes in on port 80, you can't do squat.  There are firewalls out there that will actually inspect the contents of packets to determine if it's something else in disguise, but something like that will cost a small fortune.  If you want to stop users from streaming audio (assuming that it's a business we're talking about), a method that often works is to have each employee sign Internet use agreements and let them know that streaming audio is strictly forbidden.  Sometimes it's best to simply strike a balance between cost and good personnel management.  Technical solutions to personnel problems rarely solve much.

you can also setup group policies(windows) and block the applications from being accessible by the users..you would have to lockupt realplayer, quicktime, winamp, WMP to start..along with the signing of the aggreement about streaming audio..iyou can also lock out linux users out in a similar fashion but i am unaware of how to do that...[:)] 

Here's a possibility:

• block port 80 and enforce proxy usage. 
•  set the mode of the proxy to user auth so u can see who is doing what in the logs.
•  enable surfprotection on the proxy and blacklist all files with unwanted extensions 
•  watch the logs for offenders [:)]ost people.
