File blocking for web surfers

Hi @ all,

I have Version 4.012 ASL running and I would like to block users, who wants to download exe files for example.
With the version 3 it was no problem with squidguard, but where can I define a filter in the 4.012 Version.

Squidguard? I don't know if the v3 included squidguard...
Anyway, you can use SurfProtection Blacklist to block extensions.

Yeah, that is the problem, there is no squid in there.
but I have only categories, but no extension blocking.
I can define, what kind of extensions user can receive by e-mail, but I want to block the downloading of certain files like mp3 or exe.

Blacklist all URLs which end with exe or mp3.
Please read the online help on blacklist in SurfProtection. If you need help with writing regular expressions take a look here

And btw there is a squid in ASL but no squidguard [:)]

I tried to block directly URLs which includes exe or mp3, but it is not a satisfying solution.
Because when an URL includes for example these extensions an is harmless, its blockes.
Are there any other solutions please? [:S]

Well, do you match for exe AT THE END, or just anywhere in the URL. There is a BIIIIG difference. I think you should read some documentation on PCRE. Search for "regular expressions tutorial" on google.

Here's an example for exe:

You can do the same for any other extension.
