Transparent Proxy doesn't work over SBC VPN

Hi!

I just set up our Astaro firewall this past weekend, but now the transparent proxy does not work over our existing SBC VPN connection. Our previous firewall worked fine, and no changes have been made to the configuration of the VPN routers.

When I set the HTTP proxy to User Authentication, users at our remote VPN site can get through to the internet, but not to all sites. Here at our local VPN site, we can browse freely. However, we are not using RADIUS servers, and no dialog box appears while browsing.

When I set the HTTP proxy to Standard mode and configure the browser to use the IP Address and Port Number, everything works fine from the remote site. But I would like to avoid configuring 100 machines.

Why doesn't Transparent proxy work from our remote site? The remote site has a different subnet address from our local site, if that makes a difference.

Example of problem: From our remote site, we can browse to the Yahoo homepage, but not to Yahoo mail or other services. From our local site, we can browse to ALL Yahoo sites.

Any ideas? Thanks for any input! I can't wait to get this firewall stable!

    think the http requests for internet sites are simply not routed through the tunnel since the Security Association doesn't match. I guess that your setup looks like 'left network <> right network' where the right network is your branch office - if you could replace the left network by any it should work. The tunnel would look like:  0.0.0.0/0:0 -> 192.168.0.0/24:0 => tun0x1026@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0
    But only do so if you want that all packets have to pass the central firewall and please note additionally that only HTTP packets can be proxied transparently, means that you'd need packet filters for HTTPS or FTP aso to allow access from the branch office to the internet..
