we have currently another mailfilter running in front of our astaro box. it has a nice feature which I would like to see in astaro. in fact, I'd replace the second firewall with astaro if this feature is implemented some day.
what I'm talking about is the ability to remove any attachments by type and let the rest of the mail go through. this is quite nice.
you can -let's say- deny any html content, any exe, com... attachments or attachments with the application/octet-stream mime type. those attachments or contents are automatically removed from the incoming mail, the mail is then being delivered and one doesn't have to bother with a filled-up SMTP proxy queue every day due to the extension filter.
would this be worth a closer look or not ?
should not be too hard to include. there's even a perl filter around (mimedefang) which can be used for it.
