HTTP Proxy (Squid) Can you get it to work?!?!?!

Hi guys,

I am running Astaro 4.008.
2 NICs, NAT, and the Norm.

I have been trying to use the HTTP Proxy (Squid).

I turn it on in transparent mode so that everyone has to use it and so that I can cache the websites that are visited and have tracking of what is visited. When I turn it on I get several problems.

1) Pages do not completely download. They download half way but IE thinks that the page is done because squid sent that the page was done. Squid is not getting the entire page??

2) When I am browsing the web instead of seeing the page i was going for I will see a white page with text on it saying there was a DNS error (and it is squid generated not the normal IE errors) or that it got a Zero Sized Reply??? What do those mean?

3) Sometimes the page will load but it will not load all the photos on the pages.

Are there certain things that the HTTP Proxy requires? I have tried it several times and I always have problems with it!

    HAiRYANiMAL,

    check your anonymity settings should be none, oher problem might be that you
    have assigned several default gateways. Highlander rule - there can be only one!
    (to all native English speakers would like to know how to express the Highlander
    rule correctly, feedback really appreciated [;)])

    Please note that only requests to port 80/HTTP are handled in transparent mode.
    For other ports you'd need to setup according packet filter rules.

    I have made one more picture of my HTTP Proxy settings.
    I have had them setup the way you suggessted and it still doesnt work.

    Those are my IP settings on my client machine. I have VMWare installed and that is why you see all those other NICs.

    Hope this can help you solve my problem.

    Try to setup ASL's DNS proxy, enter your IPS's DNS IP addresses make it listen on 
    the internal interface and of course put your internal network into 'allowed networks'.
    In the DHCP settings assign now the internal IP of your firewall as DNS server.
