Proxy makes firewall lock after upgrade to V4

I recently upgraded from version 3.218 to version V4 and then patched to Version 4.006. The firewall used to work fine. Now when I use the proxies for anything other than HTTP/HTTPS browsing (e.g. FTP, SOCKS SSH connections etc) the firewall locks and the webmin interface is unreachable. Usually it ends in me performing a physical reboot. If i even try to download a small file or make a brief SSH connection through the firewall's SOCKS proxy then it locks and all the proxies are usuable, even browsing being blocked. Getting very fed up with the constant rebooting. Considering downgrading back to version 3! :-( Anyone got any ideas on this at all? Will any new patches fix this error?

    your problem could be related to the installed networkcards you are using. 
    In case of rtl8139 search the forum for the solution in case of D-Link 580 TX
    get the driver which can be found at docs.astaro.org/miscellanous and replace
    the old one.

    The HTTP proxy is limited by 'Allowed Target Servcices', selecting 'Any' removes
    the restrictions - but it was restricted in the latest version 3 as well ???

    I agree from reading the messages on the forum that this seems like the obvious answer, but I'm pretty sure that I don't have either of those cards. I'll check that later. I think interface 1 & 2 are Intel cards and the private interface one is something completely different entirely. Any other thoughts anyone?

    OK, now I can put up what my NIC cards really are (see below). They don't appear to be either Realtek or D-Link, so I'm not sure that those driver issues are necessarily the problem....or if there are driver issues, where to get better drivers from.........:-(

    eth0 (VIA Technologies, Inc.VT6102 [Rhine-II] )
    eth1 (Davicom Semiconductor, Inc.Ethernet 100/10 MBit )
    eth2 (Davicom Semiconductor, Inc.Ethernet 100/10 MBit )
    Any ideas anyone?

    OK, so I reckon I'm wasting my time with versions 4.000-4.006, with this perennial Proxy problem. I have reinstalled version 3.218 and it all works fine. I'll not consider upgrading to version 4.xxx again until I've had some clear proof that the obvious bugs have been ironed out.........
