Restrict user access through web proxy

Hi,

I'm looking for methods to restrict user access to certain sites (or rather, limit certain users to only be able to access a handful of approved sites).

We have around 100  users, currently on an NT network, so we would want to use NT authentication rather than name them individually in the user section.

Currently, we are using anon authentication logging against IP addresses to save using NT user authentication which requires folks to 'log in ' again for web access with the same NT username and password but this would not be an issue for us to implement. However, I can't see a way to limit access to users 'within' various groups using NT authentication.

I'm using 3.2 at the mo.  Is this possible with 4?

    The advantage of SAM is that it is very easy to configure if the
    network already has a PDC (Primary Domain Controller) or if a
    server with a user database is running.
    The drawback, however, is that this system does not distinguish
    between different user groups. You can either allow all users in
    an SAM database access to a proxy or none of them.

    Probably RADIUS is what you are looking for. It is freely available for all
    MS server versions. With RADIUS you are able to differentiate users or  
    groups. In addition it is poosible to assign properties to the profiles like
     time settings. You can find a setup description in the manual for the
    current version it is related to W2K but it shouldn't be too hard to port it
     to NT. To limit access to certain sites you'd need the SurfProtection feature.
    Since V4 Surf Protection profiles can be authenticated against RADIUS.
    (NAS identifier = profile name)
