Well, the log says it all... the connection timed out. The connection to the server you are using is too slow. The connection times out, the pop3 proxy closes conenction. Now, this would all be OK if the client would just try again but some clients have some really weird behaviour when this happens. I think the best solution would be to just increase this timeout to, say an hour ?
I wouldn't agree that the problem is becouse the popserver or connection is to slow since we don't get the timeout if we shut down the proxy. It could possibly be if the astaro gateway (or software) is to slow then it has to intercept the pop3 sessions.
same problem here definatly not a slow connection problem. more like the proxy can't handle either a moderate amount of emails (19) or the attachments (no virus scanning)
disabling the proxy and poping directly via the FW no problems at all. enable proxy retrieve about 6 of 19 emails timeouts on email client i can't remember if the 8th email had an attachment, or the size. from memory it was a very moderatily sized attachment. prob a few kb in size. fw 1.7 ghz celeron 256mb ram
happend again, timeouts from client software haven't had a chance to look at it yet but i suspect it's the same problem. either multipul email or email with attachments or a combo of both causing the pop proxy to hang.
