Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem sending mail from a T-Online (Germany) DSL connection...
It seems the outgoing SMTP host T-DSL provides (mailto.t-online.de) mangles outgoing emails. I don't actually use my t-online account, but the mail server rewrites the From: line of my messages to include that address. Which is not what I want...
I had been using an SSH tunnel to a more reasonable smarthost outside of Germany, but that solution is a bit kludgy - and irritating, as I have to (re)connect my SSH session every time I want to send mail.
So, it occurred to me to use the SMTP proxy in ASL. Which is all well and good when I deliver to remote addresses, but the system breaks on mails to addresses within @t-online.de:
me@somewhere.edu -> me@t-online.de
Subject: foo
Content Scanner: [message processed ok]
Cause: 2003-01-27 18:01:22 mailin00.sul.t-online.de [194.25.134.8]: Connection refused
2003-01-27 18:01:22 mailin02.sul.t-online.de [194.25.134.9]: Connection refused
2003-01-27 18:01:22 me@t-online.de R=dnslookup T=remote_smtp defer (111): Connection refused
This seems to be a persistent problem.
Has anybody else encountered this? There are a lot of really odd things about T-Online, but this is really pretty irritating...
