Virus Scanning No go..

Hey all,

I've been using GWAVA on my groupwise but have always had Astaro as my second border filter.  For a while it hasn't been working (it's updating, and it says it's running, but I get no notification and nothing gets saved on the local machine)

Anyone help me solve why it doesn't seem to be scanning, I screwed up my Gwava install and although I can handle spam, I just don't like virii.

P.S. I can't ssh into the box as it won't accept the password.. but I'll post this someplace different. ;-)

    What versions of Astaro,GWAVA and Novell do you use ?
    Has this combination ran anytime and if it's so, what doesn't work now ?  (ASTARO or GWAVA)

    Hey,

    Sorry, I'm using Astaro as smtp relay internal only, which I think from testing may be the issue.  If I send from Internal to External for example an exe file is blocked, but not from external to internal as they are not going through the smtp proxy.  

    So I guess this is the issue, GWAVA is still working like a dog with 1 leg and I'm yet to really dig into that, I've tried a few things, but am limited to the wee hours of the morning.  

    Anyways, I'll look into this proxy thing a little closer and see how I can get external --> Internal to scan.

    Ok, that done.. It's scanning and blocking, no virus through as of yet but it is blocking the occasional .exe

    But not all, also word filter is not blocking all. I've manged to block three, a couple that were "real" blocks but 6 or so of ones I sent from external were not blocked.  I'm sending to different users (not cc'n and not postmaster, but different emails) inserting words such as "teenie" in subject and body, but it is not filtered, but then a random email comes in and gets filtered...

    From what I've sent (10 emails of varying degrees, also testin PORN vs porn) only two were blocked.

    Also, is the filter case sensitive?

    I've found that the word filter is not something to count on.
    If you start an email with a couple of s nothing  gets checked.

    As filters go EXIM I'm not too impressed with EXIM.

    If the word to be scanned for is on the 1st line of the emails body it also won't get picked up.

    Agreed, exim seems to leave a lot to be desired.  It blocks some mails OK but let's others through.

    Not to turn the knife in the wound, but have you considered guinevere instead of gwava?
