Surf protection does not work

Hi all,

I am running ASL 3.207 on my school. Three nic's: outside world, local lan and DMZ. I am using the HTTP proxy with Radius user authentication. Everything runs fine. I also purchased the surf protection license. And there the trouble starts... As soon as I enable a rule to block some sites or categories nobody is able to surf the net anymore. Not a single site is reachable. As soon as I disable surf protection everything works fine again. Because our school is part of a nation wide intranet (Kennisnet for the dutch readers...) I suspect that upstream a firewall is blocking something important for me. I assume that surf protection connects to a url database at a specific port (like up2date service). But I don't know which port [:(]n advance!

PS: i checked the packet violation logs but did not find a clue

first of all you should update to 3.214, there are some surf protection bugs fixed. the port surf protection is using is 6000, the IPs it's connecting to can be read in /var/chroot-squid/etc/filter.conf

Hi all,

I upgraded to 3.214 and for some reason Surf Protection works now. Case closed...
