Antispam - RBL

Hi @all,

what must I do to run the RBL on ASL 3.211?

Is it enough to add the URL in the RBL Field or is it nessesary to Enable the Sender Adress Verification, to? 

Which URL must I enter, where can I find these URL? Is it possible to use more than one URL?

    You do not 'need' to enable "Sender Address Verification", however I take the view that if the senders domain does not resolve, the email is likely to be suspect anyway.

    I would also suggest that you carefully monitor what email is being rejected using the RBL servers. You may find that mail rejected by multihop.dsbl.org in particular may be a little 'agressive', but it cetainly cuts down on the SPAM.   [:)]

    Theses are not relay hosts. They are Realtime Black Lists (or RBL's).

    You may want to look closely at the RBL's that you add in your SMTP Proxy as some of these are to strict and some in that list do not work at all..... You should visit each one and see what they filter BEFORE you activate them. If not you can end up with some undesirable and unexpected results...

    I see in the list relays.osirusoft.com DO NOT USE it or you will not get any mail as this RBL no longer exsists... and will not work....as it returns a result of ALL mail being a open relay.. othwords it has blacklisted the world....

    I would also just have it tag mail for a while, and have your mail client filter to see what you would be blocking, and if your getting any false positives. 

    If you do get false positives, you can check which black-list has done the tagging, and maybe remove it.

    And for what it's worth, I have 9 entries in my RBL list, but sbl.spamhaus.org, and bl.spamcop.net catch 99% of junk email with no false positives for me.

    The thing to watch out for is whether they block dial-up IP ranges (MAPS do this for some lists) as this produces a few false positives in my enviroment.

    An older thread here, but helped me to get the RBL working...We receive now much less spam than before ! Thanks to all guys giving here some input...I added only sbl.spamhaus.org and bl.spamcop.net into the RBL Server list as mentioned.
