DNS proxy for ftp users

I enabled proxies for http and dns.  Web access works fine. I have a rule for the LAN to access ftp/ftp control -> any. When ftp clients try to connect to sites external to the ASL, they fail.  They work fine when I make a rule for LAN -> dns -> DNS Server->allow.

I didn't need the DNS rule for web traffic though.  Do I need to set up a proxy for ftp to utilize the DNS proxy? Or is there a configuration I'm missing?
