Where should I place the syslog server?

I have a service network w/ web & smtp servers. The servers on the service network are configured to use a remote syslog server. I also enabled remote syslog on the ASL.

Should the syslog server be on the internal LAN, service network, or should I have a syslog server for both networks? OK, I only have one box left for the syslog server...

SYSLOG is a GREAT DOS protocol against a server.

You want to place your syslog server where it will have the LEAST exposure, so this TENDS to imply your internal network.

You can set it up in your DMZ, but you will want to take extra care to protect it.
