SMTP Proxy File Extension Filter

I have Virus Protection turned on for my SMTP Proxy and I have several extensions listed under the 'File extension filter'. The extensions I have listed are:
exe, scr, com, dot, vbs & lnk.

But when I send an email from an outside domain with , for example an exe attachment, the email comes through without any problems.

What gives?

    Make sure all e-mail traffic is really going over the relay (check your MX record), it doesn't work if you have DNAT for incomming SMTP instead.

    I too am not getting astaro to filter out emails with ext. defined as "exe".  Note I do not have Virus Protection turned on (no license), but I do have a file ext. defined as "exe" and my only MX record points to the astaro box.  I do NOT have a DNAT for port 25.  However emails with "exe" ext. pass through.  Do you have to have Virus Protection turned on to filter by ext.?

    Can someone please address why the ext. filter is not working?  I know two things were posted to be checked, however I have checked both of those and it does not apply to my situation.

    Do you need a AV license to use ext. filtering?

    The ext filter only works when the antivirus license is installed.

    Perhaps it's a matter of this thread being old, but for me file extension filtering works without the antivirus license. My Astaro is currently 3.216. Since this thread misinformed me i had post this so someone else doesn't get misinformed too [:)]
