smtp howto

hi,

i want to setup my smtp-proxy and store email on the pc where my firewall is running.

first of all:
what for is ident-relay?
is this for the messages i receive in outlook that i have received the email?

incoming mail:
if i wanted to receive email from i.e. hotmail, would i have to do this:

domain name: hotmail.com
smtp host: internal interface of my firewall
or do i have to enter my workstation-pc?

outgoing mail:
i have entered my workstation here, i do have a rule for it(smpt,pop3,imap), and i masqueraded it, but it doesnt send my email..

what do i have to enter in my outlook

    to use the smtp proxy, you need to have your OWN smtp server on your lan. This proxy service is only useful if you administer your own mailserver.

    If you get mail through pop/imap or read hotmail, you should not enable smtp proxy.
