SMTP Mail Relay

Hello all.
I do have a problem. I'm still a newbee in this, but i do have a problem that i can not find a solution for it and that is.
On the configuration menue Proxis-SMTP there is on entry that says SMTP routes: Domain ? and Host ?. I can not figure out what i have to type in does fields. I'v tryed it with the smtp server of my provider and the ip address and a view other things but nothing did work. Can anybody help me out with this. The Firewall by it selve is realy cool stuff.

    You only need to use those routes if you don't want the SMTP proxy to use MX records to route the mail.

    For example if you set your firewalls IP as the main MX record for your domains, you would want to deliver the email somewhere from the proxy, so you define the internal mail server in the network definititions and then you tell it to deliver main for your domains to the internal server.

    Hope this makes it clearer.

    Hello i'm back. 
    So i tryed a view othe things but still it does not work. I left the routes and domain empty because i do not have a mail server yet. so i did only the accepted domains entrys, and if i'm right then i have to put in the smtp adress of my provider or not?. I did try this as well but it does still not function. I'm hanging now pretty much in the sky, then i dont find the click to solve this problem.
    I'v anybody can help me out with this i'm very happy.

    this is to route mail INTO your protected network..  you need to create a definition for each mailserver you have internally and then tell the gui what domain to listen for and where to send it..    so i put in

    net-endeavors.com -> Internal_Mailserver

    and so forth...

    Hello i'm back.
    Thanks so far for your help, but the problem is still not solved. 
    First i do not have a mailserver behind the Firewall. I do have only one mailaccount by my provider. What do i have to do then.By default the smtp and the pop3 are allready on on state, so i do not have to do anything in this section. My difficultis are in the proxy settings ( smtp ). I dont know what i have to configure in the field accepted domains.
    This is my question.

    If you don't have a mail server behind the firewall and you send and pickup email from your ISP using POP3 and SMTP, then just NAT/MASQ your internal network to the external Network card, and setup rules in the packet filter to allow traffic out on SMTP and POP3 ports.

    Turn off the SMTP proxy and make your (and our) life a lot simpler ;-)

    hi,

    in my opinion (and in the way outlook-client works in my configuration at home) you have to get the ip of your providers mailserver. create under definitions/ networks a host for this mailserver. after that configure rules for imap, smtp and pop3 from your clients to this mailserver (and also the other way).
    done this you can configure your proxy/smtp relay.
    in "incoming mail" set a domain-name like xxx.com and a "smtp-host" where you insert the network of your providers mailserver.

    GOTCHA! thats the way it works!

    all you internal clients you want. for example you can use eth0-network
