Hi all! I'm kinda new with Astaro and have the Final 3.2 Version installed at home, after I tried several Betas without success. There were some issues with dyn. IP and cable connection. Since my cablemodem is a router, I run a standard Ethernet Interface externally and not PPoE which gets a dyn. IP. Now with the final release I have the asl box basically working.
Setup like this:
-dynamic IP on ext. Interface
-masquerading LAN->ext. Int
-dns proxy
-http proxy transparent
Although I use http proxy in transparent mode, my internal PC needs the browser configured with proxy settings to get http access. Without configuring the browser with the proxy, I can't get out, no matter if standard mode or transparent mode is selected.
Second thing is, if I turn the proxy off in my understanding I should be at least able to set a filter rule like Lan->http->internet->allow to enable surfing. But it doesnt work here. I even have any->http->any->allow and can't go outside. This also behaviors with pop3. Generally I feel my filter rules don't apply! I can't see no violations in the livelog. Of course, the filter rules are "green".
At the end, I want use http proxy for surfing protection and I would even pay the smtp virus scanner. If I'm right this works only if I run my own mailserver internally and use the asl smtp proxy as relay..right?
Am I missing something general in firewalling?
I know I'm pretty new into this but read a lot and also tons of posts here:-)
