usage of SMTP Proxy (Telnet)

Is there anything I have to care obout when actvating the smtp proxy? Do I have to set any Packet Filter Rules? Mails do not seem to come. My provider, me aswell, tried a telnet on port 25. Was not possible. I was told that the mailserver (Astaro smtp proxy) is corrupted. Should a telnet be possible on port 25?

if you enable SMTP proxy ASL sets the needed
filter itself.
Of course you can telnet the port 25. But the
bulitin w2k telnet client doesn't echo correctly.

Problem solved! Ports 25 was unreachable because our ISP blocked the port on it's router. - ASTARO 2.023 works fine!
