Squid and updated pages

Hi, I am running Astaro 2.022 with the HTTP Proxy enabled, I had to disable it this morning though as users were complaining that they were getting the old version of pages that had been updated.

Some of my users make frequent changes to pages on servers outside our network, when they have made the changes they reload and still get the old page, this was fine before I enabled HTTP Proxy and after I disabled it.

How does squid check if pages have changed since they were cached?

    I got a personal reply from Oliver Desch at Astaro regarding this issue, in case anyone else has the same trouble here is his reply:

    I assume you are using Internet Explorer. There is a bug
    that the page refresh command (even CTRL+F5)doesn't work
    correctly. (You can check this if you use e.g. Netscape, 
    refresh works!)

    The current Squid release addresses this bug,
    but we cannot use it, because we need the filter patch
    of the older version.

    If you have to maintain web servers you could try to exclude
    this hosts in the IE proxy configuration.
