ASL Disappears

Hello all,

Happy New year!

Here is my new and highly unusual problem, ASL keeps disappearing. Ok, I have a fairly standard, straight-out-of-the box install right now, no filters (except allow all all), no Portscanning or anything like that, but regularly ASL just disappears, I can't even ping it, and bang goes my proxying.

What version of ASL and what kind of NICs you have ?

It was version 2.016 and a 10Meg Realtek card and a 100Meg C-Net card.

I have since re-installed with 2 100Meg C-Net cards and the problem has disappeared.

has the problem definately gone away ? It's just that the problem you describe is usually caused by having both of the firewalls NICs plugged into the same hub/switch. This causes problems with incorrect entries in the arp cache.

I think ASL has a problem with realtek NICS. I had two realtek and 1 3com. I removed one realtek and the problem went away.

This of course after fixing the shared hub/DMZ problem.
