You will get sued

Hi Astaro guys.

Even though I like the idea of running qmail in this distro, you are violating the DJB license and will get sued by DJB as soon as he finds out.

Why?

In order to have the qmail-scanner.pl to work, you must use Bruce Guenthers "qmail queue" patch. 

You are not allowed to ship a patched qmail.

You are not allowed to ship a chrooted qmail.

Or am I missing something here?

    Hi Oden,

    no, we do not use any 'qmail queue' patch (we know this is not allowed).
    Chroot should be allowed, but perhaps we miss one symbolic link - sorry for that!
     
    Btw, in the next version we will change to EXIM and remove all qmail stuff.

    Ok, I understand.

    It would nevertheless be very nice if you decided to keep qmail+ucspi-tcp+daemontools, and also started using dnscache from the djbdns package.This would make it awesome!

    BTW. Why do you now provide the sources so that people can customize it? And why should I trust your intentions when you're not?

    Okay.. excuse me if I go off onto a bit of a rant here, but WHY get rid of/fix something if it's not broken.. Im sure DJB is rather flattered that you people are using qmail/daemontools etc in ASL. I cannot see how changing something fundemental such as qmail for exim will make asl better (apart from the monitor ximon). If it's a performance issue, then fair enough, but for the sake of "legality" then I don't agree.

    I openly praise everyone involved in ASL, including the indirect contributors of Opensource software, but feel that IMHO that qmail should stay..
