SMTP-got spammed

Hello

Recently our host hot spammed.
i use Astaro as a general SMTP-Relay for myself.
I configured it as follows:

accept: Any
accept incomming domain: example.com
relay: example.com -> 192.168.0.2
(assuming 192.168.0.2) is my internal mail-server.

as far as I understood, Astaro should accept SMTP connection from anywhere, so that everyone can send me an email but should only take care of those emails which are addressed to: example.com
domain. e.g. webmaster@example.comstefan@example.com. All other mails should be
at least reject or directly piped to /dev/null.

But unfortunatley some people were able to use
my host as an generic spam-relay host.

is that a bug or a feature, how can I solve that
problem

thanks in advance

  • I think I got the same thing although orbz didn't find anything - I did get checked out.

    The mail server behind the FW was quiet so it has to have been the firewall itself.

    I wonder if Astaro would care to comment.....
