Hi. I have defined so, that all our email traffig goes through our ASL box.

Now our ISP told us, that we should prepare for situation that we must collect log of email traffic and keep it for 3 months.

I have heard that they are preparing law about logging internet traffic here in FI. Of course it might be just rumor. Maybe this letter from ISP is somehow connected to that law.

Anyways. Could it be possible to add of all email traffic like you have made list of virus emails.

    do they want you to track the TO: and FROM: only, or even the content ?

    In the latter case, this would be an incredible law to pass ...

    /var/log/mail contains information on who-sent-who, with timestamps.

    I believe that header information is going to be enough. If police gets interested in our email traffic they prolly already have the content of the mail. They only need logs to confirm the source of the mail.

    At least let's hope so. ISP's are already very edgy about this thing. Our email traffic is in very small scale, and we could save our all email traffic (only 12 email users). But big operators need to make huge investments.
